Nov 2011

Finally I'm back on my feet again. (Still recovering from a medical treatment) Let's do some work. The plan is to full-time assist photographers like Marijke Aerden, Charles Freger, Rene Bosch, Wilkin's studio and maybe more. I will stop working for Fonds 1818 Magazine and my replacement will be Inge Stolwijk. My plans for the moment still are the bigger story of Charleroi which I would like to call 'Phoenix cities'. Also I will be preparing for moving to France. Oh and I tried to do a story about Roman warrior Re-Enactors but they are kind of expensive to photograph it seems.

March 2012

So, after a nice holiday in the snow I'm back assisting in Amsterdam! I will soon put photographs of these assisting-adventures on my web. Soon a trip to Österreich for a Marlies Dekkers fashion shoot. After that I arranged an appartment in Marseille, France to scout around and maybe find work, inspiration or maybe nothing at all. Also I'm still in contact with Charles Freger but more about that later.

Nov 2011

Finally I'm back on my feet again. After some medical treatment I'm allowed to work soon. Plans are to assist to build up credit to move to France. Also some interesting things coming up with Charles Freger. More about that later. After deciding to move my bussiness somewhere else Inge Stolwijk will replace me at Fonds1818 Magazine. And yes finally I will get my driver's licence!

June 2011

After the trip with Marijke to Ibiza (watch may 2011) there were a few big assignments waiting for me. One included a portrait of fishermen for the Marine Stewardship Council. Later in week nr23 I was asked by Fotodok.org to assist/guide the members of Piece Of Cake. Photographers from several places in Europe. More information: www.Pocproject.com. I had the chance to talk about my work with Andrew Phelps, Mathieu Bernard-Reymond, Gotz Diergarten, Jasper Debeijer and naturally Charles Freger. I added some videos from my mobile phone to the right of this page were you can also find something of Ibiza. For now it is time to buy some new equipment and to focus on the bigger story of Charleroi. I will buy a car soon to get this on the road!

May 2011

Last month there have been some changes. Good changes though. I'm now assisting Rene Bosch from agency UNIT Amsterdam, Wilkin's studio in Bilthoven and Marijke Aerden. I will join Marijke on a trip to Ibiza for a Wehkamp Magazine shoot. Next to that I'm off course also busy with pushing my own projects. Charleroi seems to have an impressive basic message and story to start for something bigger. Another project will include Michiel Laurens and a fashion designer. I'm afraid I can't tell the whole story but that's just because we're still brainstorming and planning to make this come together. Something else but not totally unimportant is the website www.weddingshooters.nl. Me together with Theo Captein and Olaf Hartong are exploring ways to photograph/film weddings to escape from the cliché shootings with soft focus filters for example..

March 2011

The bodybuilder portraits might be shown on the Naarden Photo Festival this summer, I'm waiting for the last decision of the jury. Also I'm talking with magazines in Belgium and France to publish the Charleroi series. Only in Holland I'm still looking for a good publication. At the moment I work in Amsterdam assisting Rene Bosch in his studio thanks to the Agency UNIT. Another upcoming project is with Michiel Laurens and we are now busy to arrange models, stylists, locations and much more. This project will start this spring.

Feb 2011

The project about Charleroi is almost finished. One more visit and then it can be published, but I'm sure it is not the end of the story. I feel I want to continue with it. Next to this I'm working with a small group about a certain area in The Netherlands, more about that soon...

Jan 2011

Above a shoot for the future website of 'De parel van Zuilen' which will also be published in the local newspaper. I just made a visit to Belgium for the next series I'm producing. All went well and I hope to finish the work soon so that I can publish it with the help of journalist Carel Helder.

Dec 2010

Last month of this year and things go well. The projects I have been talking about are really starting to get some shape now. Soon I will have some photos to show what they are all about. Journalist Carel Helder asked me to join TorpedoMagazine.nl where I just added the Bassalag project. This website will be useful for resources and networking. I'm finally starting to get busy again and it feels good. Let's see what 2011 will bring...

Nov 2010

This image from my mobile was taken during a trip with Charles Freger this month. We stayed in Slovenia, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Greece. Charles is producing new work about small communities and their traditions in several countries. For more information; www.charlesfreger.com During this trip I decided to start a new project about a town we crossed. The idea is to get in touch with locals there, to start doing some research and to find a cheap way to produce new work. More news about this later. Oh and in the COLORS issue 'Dance' you can find the project I did with Charles in Brazil, 2009. It's called; Fantasias

Oct 2010

Fonds1818 is going well, and it seems me and Eva Hofman will continue another year working for it's magazine. Besides that I did not receive the requested funds for the follow-up of BOEM which included a trip through Europe. I will start financing the project myself now. I will probably start some trips around februari 2011.

Sept 2010

Writing my 'SemPresser' Funds for one of the follow ups of BOEM. After that I will start writing for the 'Startstipendium' funds for a bigger follow up of the same subject. I will join Charles Freger soon in a new trip in Europe and I'm fighting for any kind of work from weddings, newspapers and anyone who wants me. Besides that I'm thinking of new projects and stories that fascinate me a long time now.

July 2010

Still I'm recovering from the operation. Moving to London will have to wait for now. Soon I will be able to get my drivers license which will open lots of opportunities to travel and shoot. Also I will try to work for more magazines, more news about that later. After talking with Charlott Markus I'm convinced to apply again for the 'startstipendium' by funds BKVB, I think I'm more ready for it this time.

Fevrier 2010

After my publication in the Volkskrant I went to GUP Magazine, and they seem to have interest in my follow-up of BOEM. The plan is made and a concept is now being written. Making arrangements for shootings I expect new photomaterial this summer. I keep a low profile because I don't want my idea to be copied as it came completely as a result of my own needs, fascination and inspiration. The contract is signed with Funds1818 so I'm offically making a living with my photography now, assisting as an extra. EACHmagazine will get a boost soon as we are busy making work around a certain theme to eventually fill up some magazines or gallery spaces. Look it up at www.eachmagazine.com Oh, and I'm studying french, because I will need it a lot in the future.

Dec 09

Recovering from a shoot in Bastogne for the Volkskrant, this month I'm also recovering from an accident that occured in late November. More news about this in January. I've send in work from this year to the 'Zilveren Camera' including photographs of the War and Peace Show in the UK. I also appeared in the Digi Photo Pro Magazine with a big article about BOEM. Further plans are about creating a book of all the 'BOEM' reportage work. Let's talk with some publishers. In 2010 lot's of ideas and plans are already on paper, soon more about this.

Future plans Nov09

Next up is a visit to the UK, where I will visit visual artist Michelle Cioccoloni. (image) Also I will help Jorgen Nijman with his work he made in Iraq. In December I will shoot in Bastogne the 'Battle of the Bulge' to complete the reportage work of BOEM. Barack Obama will also be there. The complete series will be published in the Volkskrant Magazine. This work will go straight to the ZilverenCamera competetion. After this I will have to go to surgery which will take me out of business some time, but plans for shooting BOEM in the UK are being made.

We Are Each!

At the moment EACH get's a new website where news and activities will be available. We are selecting a theme on which each of us will produce work. Next year all will be finished with a show or maybe a publication.

25/09/09

I'm getting BOEM published in Volkskrant Magazine. Together with one of their writers I will compete and photograph an attack in Belgium where there will be around one hundred men and an original Tiger Tank. Next to that I presented the 'Go Fish' series to Hollands Diep magazine. At the moment I'm trying to talk with Simon Roberts about BOEM. Also I try Simon Norfolk, Carsten Peter, Choppedliver.info and KEOfilms to assist or work abroad for some period of time.

Fonds1818

I was asked to work for Fonds1818.nl it's magazine. This is a great opportunity for me to expand my network, keep myself busy and maybe in the future gather more funds for project BOEM.
